Every now and then the Human Library Organization will engage in partnerships to host thematic Human Library events. It is not the preferred presentation of the concept, but can serve to create attention towards specific topics. Such an event will take place at the Vancouver Public Library on June 4th, 2011.
In partnership with the Queer Imaging & Riting Kollective for Elders (QUIRK-E) a variety of LGBT Living Books will be available to readers between 10 am and 8 pm. The long opening hours will ensure that many readers will have a chance to take out a Living Book.
To aim of the event is to challenge stereotypes and represent the diversity that exists within people who are old, as well as gay, lesbian and transsexual. QUIRK-E has applied for funding support from the City of Vancouver.
